A 12-week program of inhome services are arranged as follows:
In the first visit, which can last up to 2 hours, a behavioral history assessment will be conducted in which you will be asked to provide us with information concerning your pet’s history, current routine, feeding and exercise schedule, and more. In some cases, behavioral testing or problem behavior assessment may then be conducted so that we can observe your pet in action. Based on this assessment, we will provide you with a treatment plan that is individualized to suit your family’s and your pet’s needs. During this first session, we also may model training strategies for you and may have your practice training so that we can provide you with feedback and help fine-tune your pet’s training plan.
Two follow-up home visits are conducted, one at 2 and one at 6 weeks after the first assessment session. These sessions may run up to one hour each. For 12 weeks from your first appointment, you also will be provided with a weekly phone call so that we can assess your pet’s progress and update or modify the treatment or training plan as needed.
Fees for these services are paid up front in full. The cost is $250.00 and payment may be made by cash or check.
If you live outside of Morgantown, there is a travel fee of $0.50 per mile roundtrip, calculated from West Virginia University’s main campus in Morgantown to your home.
Dr. Maxwell conducts telephone consultations for owners of cats or birds with behavior problems. This service is primarily available to those who live outside of the Morgantown-Pittsburgh area. She is currently not providing telephone consultations to dog owners.
Telephone consultations are arranged similarly, except that all contact is made via telephone for 12 weeks. Fees are identical to those of in-home consultations.
